'Funny, light' site out to find out what women want
Gordon Delaney Valley Bureau
NEW MINAS - What do women really
want?
It's the age-old question that has
often left men scratching their heads.
But one Annapolis Valley woman is
determined to find out and in the
process hopes to help men and women
build better relationships.
Mia Lockhart is quiet but confident.
She's savvy and smart.
A marathon runner, she's been happily
married for 10 years and has four
young children.
And she has just launched a new
website called chickbliss.com.
It's aimed at women, but a wise man
would take notice. It could save his
neck.
"It's meant to be funny and light," Ms.
Lockhart said in a recent interview at
her home a few kilometres south of
New Minas.
"But if it helps women and couples,
then all the better."
Chickbliss was her own idea,
conceived out of a desire to work
from home and make good use of her
technological training and skills.
Ms. Lockhart also has a popular
Facebook page called the Fit Mom
Society that encourages exercise and
good health in women. Since its
inception, the group has drawn more
than 750 active members. And she has
a website called fitmomsociety.com.
Ms. Lockhart, whose training and
experience is mostly on computers, is
the first to admit she's not a
counsellor or a therapist. Nor is the
site intended for that.
It's simple. It works like this:
Women can go on the site and visit
chat rooms to discuss their modernday
conundrums.
Or they can view short, funny videos
that tackle the thorny issues of what
women really want from their
sometimes uncommunicative male
partners.
They can even send specially
designed humorous e-cards to their
partners or friends.
Or they can answer a series of
questions on topics such as
instructions for men, steamy secrets
of the bedroom and 49 ways to say "I
love you." They can even learn to say
it in 100 languages.
The questions and answers are then
published in an e-book or hard-copy
edition put together by a U.S.
publisher and shipped to your front
door.
The plan is for women to take the
book to their male partners and
discuss the answers to questions like
"What's your favourite position in
bed?" There's even an entire book
under development called My Top 10
Sex Positions and Why I Love Them.
On the site, women will be asked
questions like this one:
What would make me most happy
when I come home from a stressful
day at work? Here are some possible
answers:
1) He was cooking dinner
2) He offered to take me out
3) He had nothing on but a smile
4) He whisked me upstairs for some
hot and sexy appetizers
5) He offered to take charge of the
kids
The website is designed to open the
channels of communication, Ms.
Lockhart said.
"Good communication is really the
secret to a happy, healthy relationship.
"Yet so many women are not good at
telling their partners what they really
want or how they feel. Too often, they
expect men to read their minds and
that just doesn't work."
Answering the questions also helps
women better understand their own
feelings about subjects that can have
the potential to cause major blow-ups
at home. That can help them better
deal with those issues when they
arise, said Ms. Lockhart.
